This August, our office received the honor of being named Greater Lafayette Commerce’s Small Business of the Month. What does this mean exactly? We think it’s a nod to all the hard work we’ve been doing, the nights and weekends we’ve spent helping our clients, and the positive mentality we try to uphold every day when we come to work.
There is a sense of accomplishment in being recognized for community involvement. Serving the community not only through our legal counsel, but also through our volunteer efforts and pro bono work is important to our team. Some of our community work includes:
Assisting Joyful Journey, Inc. in becoming a legal non-profit 501(c)3 organization, acquiring and re-zoning real estate, and working with the City of West Lafayette in the variances and code compliances for Joyful Journey’s facility. For the years of 2014-15, we have donated over 250 hours or over 30,000 of free legal services.
Helping Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette with free legal services as their sole counsel. We have donated over 150 hours of free legal services.
BB&C offers every employee 1.5 hours per week for its “Commitment to Community” that provides paid time off to volunteer in our community. Past and current employees have used this paid time off to volunteer for Food Finders Food Bank, Read to Succeed, and other Lafayette organizations.
We know that without the community, our firm couldn’t function. We also know that without our dedicated team, BB&C wouldn’t have won this award. We strive to achieve a balance of work and life, and through this effort, we were able to win this honor.
Thank you to everyone for your support!
