Community Involvement + BB&C

Loving our community well

For seven decades, BB&C has invested in this amazing community of ours. We put down roots in Lafayette in 1948 and have delighted in serving here ever since. Our attorneys and staff don’t just work in the Greater Lafayette area; we pour our hearts into this area, too. Whether it’s community volunteering, serving on boards, donating time or legal services, giving back is in our blood, and we love doing it.

Here’s a peek into our unwavering commitment to the community:

Pro Bono Legal Services

We’re honored to provide free legal services to people and organizations around here who need them. In the last ten years alone, our dedicated attorneys and staff have donated over 1,700 hours of pro bono services. Some of the organizations we’ve enjoyed coming alongside include:

  • Joyful Journey, Inc.
This wonderful organization assists area adults and families struggling with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, Down syndrome, and other medical issues. BB&C helped Joyful Journey become a legal non-profit, acquire and re-zone real estate, and comply with the necessary city codes and variances. And we continue to serve as its pro bono counsel today. We’ve donated over $50,000 of free legal services to help Joyful Journey continue their excellent work.
  • Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette
Since 2013, BB&C has acted as Habitat’s sole Lafayette counsel, donating over 150 hours of free legal services.
  • Day Camp for Foster Children
When a day camp in North Central Indiana was threatened with permanent shutdown over a legal issue, BB&C stepped in and defended this case at no cost.  Over $30,000 of free legal services has been provided for this very worthy cause.
  • Alliance Defending Freedom
We’ve proudly donated over 1,300 hours of pro bono legal work through this organization which advocates for freedom in court.

Employee Community Involvement

  • Leadership Lafayette

  • Commitment to Community
This internal program provides paid time off for our attorneys and staff to volunteer throughout the community. Employees have used this time to volunteer for Food Finders Food Bank, Read to Succeed, and other worthwhile organizations.
